The legendary S&S 34 is the vessel of choice for truly adventurous sailors. Designed for either single- or double-handed sailing, she has a fin keel, a skeg-hung rudder, and a masthead sloop. She is highly regarded for being incredibly solid and seaworthy, with strong upwind sailing performance.
Whether competing in the most challenging races or doing the most ambitious off-the-beaten-track explorations, this is the boat for you!!
This model was launched in 1971 and actively used for both racing and cruising in and around the United Kingdom for about 40 years. She was stored on land for 18 years, and then a new owner spent three years doing extensive upgrades to prepare for the 2023 Global Solo Challenge, including new wiring, plumbing, engine, tanks, sails, mast, and deck fittings. He had to retire from the GSC in Australia due to an autopilot problem. New owners did some additional upgrades and then successfully participated in the 2025 Melbourne-to-Osaka Race, a 5,500 nautical mile double-handed endurance test.
So, although she is a 1971 boat, virtually all equipment was installed in 2020 or later. This is a great opportunity to get a proven, classic offshore boat in ready-to-go condition at an unbeatable price.
She is currently moored in Osaka. The current owners will be in Japan in early November and will be happy to meet with potential buyers. If a new owner is not found at that time, she will be sailed back to Australia.
